Clinical Supervision for Speech and Language Therapists
working with deaf people.

CSD offer a comprehensive service of clinical supervision whereby one of our Specialist Speech and Language Therapists provides clinical support sessions to individual therapists working in this field. If you have a developing service for deaf people but currently no specialist therapist, you may be interested in this service. These sessions can be arranged at the therapist's convenience- regarding time and place. Sessions may take place once or twice a term and usually last between 2 and 3 hours.

Support may take the following forms:

Individual sessions where cases and clinical situations are presented and discussed. Specific advice can be given on report writing, assessment findings, therapy plans methods of intervention as well as some case management issues.

Second opinions- the therapist may wish a specialist therapist to offer a second opinion on a client they are seeing- helping them to draw their own conclusions needed for reports, school placements, school transfers annual statements etc.

One-off initial consultations are also available where the supervising therapist offers support in setting up models of practice, styles of intervention, assessment discussion. These sessions may be a half or a whole day.

Detailed aims and objectives are drawn up as a result of the supervision session with targets set, to be reviewed at the next supervision session.

These sessions are currently charged at £100 per hour for the specialist therapist plus £45 per hour for travel time and travel expenses

- payable directly to the supervising therapist. (fees revised annually)
